Dr. Ryan M. Andrée is a native New Orleanian, LSU graduate, and Texas transplant who has found his home at Galveston Veterinary Clinic after a long and interesting journey.

As a child, it was a tradition every summer to roam the local canals with neighborhood friends with a net in hand catching turtles, bullfrogs, snakes, and anything else that may end up in his net.  By the end of the summer there would be a backyard full of turtles in baby pools and makeshift habitats until he returned them back before starting school in the fall.

His family recognized his love for animals at a very young age, and over the span of his childhood, supported and encouraged this by letting him have just about every pet he ever asked for—dogs, cats, ferrets, pigs, fish, various reptiles and rodents, rabbits, and a tarantula; however, they did draw the line when he asked for a monkey.

Even as a younger child he appreciated a kinship with animals who gave him a sense of purpose. He felt like he understood them more than the average person and wanted nothing more than to be The Beastmaster, which is still one of his favorite all-time movies. This eventually developed into a passion for science and medicine which led him on his path to become a veterinarian where he has found an even greater sense of purpose by allowing him to share his love and compassion with the animals and owners he sees on a daily basis and is beyond grateful for being given the opportunity to do something that he loves every day.

Dr. Andrée has a son, Braeden, who also shares his passion for animals; a rambunctious but sweet bulldog, Toula; and an aquarium which has remained a constant fixture in his home since he was four years old.

Outside of work, Dr. Andrée, a former rugby player for over twenty years, actively coaches the women of Bay Area Rugby Club in Houston and has become an avid gardener and bonsai enthusiast.
